This page explains the insurance arrangements and liability limitations applicable to services provided by DayCourier.

DayCourier operates as an on-demand courier service and works with independent self-employed couriers.

We work with independent couriers who hold their own insurance, including Goods in Transit and Public Liability cover.

Insurance cover is not provided directly by DayCourier and, where applicable, is provided by the courier in accordance with their individual policy.

1. Delivery Insurance

DayCourier works with independent couriers who hold appropriate insurance relevant to their vehicle type (motorcycle, car, or van).

This insurance must:

- Permit the carriage of goods for delivery purposes
- Allow the courier to operate legally while performing delivery services

2. Goods in Transit (GIT) Insurance

Couriers working with DayCourier typically hold Goods in Transit (GIT) insurance, which may provide cover for loss or damage to items while in transit.

Coverage is subject to:

- The courier’s individual insurance policy terms
- The declared item value (maximum £100)
- Exclusions and limits set by the insurer

DayCourier does not provide blanket Goods in Transit insurance.

Customers are responsible for declaring the correct value and nature of their goods at the time of booking.

3. Public Liability Insurance

Couriers working with DayCourier typically hold Public Liability Insurance, which may cover:

- Injury to third parties
- Damage to third-party property
- Incidents occurring during pickup or delivery

4. Customer Responsibilities

Customers must ensure that:

- Items are properly and securely packaged
- Items are legal and safe for transport
- Accurate descriptions and values are provided

DayCourier is not responsible for damage caused by:

- Inadequate or improper packaging
- Incorrect or incomplete declarations
- Fragile, restricted, or prohibited items

5. Limitation of Liability

Maximum liability per order: £100

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, DayCourier’s maximum liability for loss or damage to any item is limited to £100 per order.

The declared value represents the maximum amount that may be considered in case of loss or damage.

We aim to resolve any issues fairly. Each case is reviewed individually, and compensation, where applicable, is limited to the declared value.

DayCourier is not liable for:

- Loss of profits
- Business interruption
- Indirect or consequential damages

Any claims must be reported within 24 hours of delivery.

6. High-Value Items

High-value items are not accepted unless agreed in writing in advance.

Where accepted, additional insurance arrangements may be required.

Items exceeding £100 in value may not be fully covered unless explicitly agreed prior to collection.

7. Third-Party Insurance Policies

All insurance coverage is provided by independent couriers through their own insurers.

Coverage depends on:

- The courier’s active insurance policy
- Insurer terms and exclusions
- Declared shipment details
